Rachel Hoiby
Drum Major
Rachel Hoiby is a junior from Denton, Texas. She graduated from John H. Guyer High School where she served as drum major in the marching band from 2008-2010. For the past two summers, Rachel has spent her time volunteering at the George N. Parks Drum Major Academy in Texas as well as at the Music for All Summer Symposium. She is currently pursuing a Music Education degree and is a member of the flute studio at the University of Kentucky.
Ashley King
Drum Major
Ashley King is a Senior from Versailles, Ky. She attended Woodford County High School where she was Drum Major in the 2008-2009 Season. She graduated from Woodford County High School in 2009. She is pursuing a degree in Psychology as well as two minors in Music Performance and Spanish with hopes of going to graduate school in School Psychology. She has marched piccolo for 3 years in the WMB. In addition to being a member of the WMB, she is now President of the Eta Zeta chapter of Tau Beta Sigma.
Matt Julian
Senior Assistant - Equipment Manager
Matt Julian is a Music Education Major playing saxophone. This will be his fifth year in the WMB. He is also a shift leader at a Pizza Hut around town when he is not in class or practicing. Matt is from northern Kentucky, where he attended Conner High School. He was rasied on a farm in Burlington KY and then his family moved to Florence KY. In his spare time (so basically during summer) he likes to go fishing, hunting, and help his Grandpa with the farm.
Jacob Carpenter
Senior Assistant - Instrument Manager
Jacob is a native of Milford, Ohio, where he was a member of the Milford High School marching band for four years. He graduated in 2010 and spent the summer on tour with the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps as a mellophone player. He is currently a Music Education major and a member of the horn studio at the University of Kentucky. Along with his duties as Instrument Manager, he is pleased to be marching mellophone for the WMB as well. In his spare time he works as the Visual/Brass instructor for the George Rogers Clark High School Marching Band in Winchester, KY. When left with nothing else to say, his favorite phrase is "GO CATS!!"
Maranda Skaggs
Senior Assistant - Librarian
Maranda Skaggs is a senior from Bardstown, Ky. She attended Bardstown High School where she was Drum Major of the Marching Tiger Band from 2006-2007 and 2007-2008. She was a graduate of the class of 2008. Maranda was a member of the piccolo section for her first three years in the WMB. She an Elementary Education major and also a proud member of Tau Beta Sigma.
